The TC1 certification is required to be Chief of Timing at Alpine races sanctioned by US Ski and Snowboard.  While the Beginners Timing Workshop teaches the nuts and bolts of running the software and timing a race, the TC1 clinic covers the rules and requirements mandated by USS&S.

To prepare for the TC1 exam, prior to the clinic, students should watch the videos below, read the Alpine Competition Guide,  and review the TC1 Study Guide.

The morning clinic will cover the following topics.

  • Subtracting time-of-day times. (video)

  • Creating 2nd run start lists.

  • Calculating race penalty.

    • Basic Calculation. (video)

    • Minimum Penalty Adjustments. (video)

  • Calculating race points.

  • Filling out the TDTR. (video)

  • Calculating equivalent electronic times (EETs). (video)

The TC1 Exam is open-book, open-notes.  You can use any printed materials including the ACG and the Study Guide.  However, only printed materials are permitted.  Searchable soft copies are not allowed.
